Some Forest of Dean History.

Cinderford - 1975.

Cinderford's history is etched in the distant views towards the hillside upon which it sprawls. Along the valley, the cinders of iron slag still lie, a reminder of the town's beginnings.

By 1995 most of the "Cinders" had been destroyed ... a memory of an Industrial Heritage that many local people were only too glad to see erased from the landscape.

Most of the "Cinders" have been destroyed in the last 10 to 15 years.
