By far the most lasting reminders of the Bronze Age people, however, are the huge stone circles of Avebury and Stonehenge. Nothing of its like exists within our area of course; no doubt at this time, and for many hundreds of years to come, the forest which we now know as Dean, was still in its primeval state.
