From Stage to Silver Screen.

The cinema was bought by a Stroud business man Mr Albany Ward who owned a small chain of theatres. It re-opened on Boxing Day 1923 with a new larger stage designed to provide plays and music hall entertainment. Due to the advent of 'talking pictures' this never took place and Albany Ward soon merged with Provincial Cinematograph Theatres.

They in turn were bought out by Gaumont British and later by Odeon and then the Rank Organisation.
